Word of Honor, by Nelson DeMille
Published in 1985, paperback.
Nelson DeMille is, in my opinion, a "great
escape" author. Whenever I feel a need to get away, I pick
up a DeMille book. The only problem is that his writing is so
good, his stories so engrossing, that it is hard to put the book
down once I've picked it up.
I consider Word Of Honor to be one of the best
written novels I have ever read. The book is over 800 pages,
yet when I was done reading it I was hungry for more. The story
is about a man who is put on trial 20 years after he fought a
battle in Vietnam. Those who are prosecuting believe that our
hero committed war crimes. The story was believable from beginning
to end, probably because the hero isn't perfect. Is he guilty?
Read and find out.
